  • A new Mayor for Bedford
  •      David Hodgson, the leader of the Lib Dem group in the Bedford Borough Council, was elected last year on October 16 to the office of Mayor of Bedford. His majority was more than 2000 over the next placed Conservative candidate, although the turnout was low: 35,145 (31%).     The election was by proportional representation with six candidates; the Labour candidate came fifth. Dave Hodgson has a degree in Computing and Business; he has lectured and run a business, but now gives all his time to political work. Further details can be found at www.bedfordlibdems.org
